Program

Programs are the heart of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.  With each administration, the initiatives change, but what remains constant, is our service to all mankind.  Pi Iota Omega has a history of empowering and activating our members, to create and execute service programs that enhance, enrich, and support the White Plains/Greenburgh communities. Our members provide a diverse pool of talents, which contributes positively to the impact the Pi Iota Omega chapter has.

Target 1: Educational Support & Advocacy 

Advance educational excellence by creating equitable pathways to learning, leadership, literacy, and lifelong achievement for children, youth, families, educators, and underserved communities.

  • Promote literacy and academic success from cradle to career

  • Support educators through advocacy, appreciation, and professional development

  • Expand access to college readiness, career exposure, and scholarship opportunities

  • Strengthen family and community engagement in education

  • Invest in confidence-building, leadership development, and mentorship for youth

Target 2: AKA Family Matters 

Strengthen families and communities by promoting safety, connection, stability, preparedness, and multigenerational wellness through intentional engagement and supportive programming.

  • Encourage healthy family relationships and support systems

  • Provide resources for kinship care and family stabilization

  • Promote youth engagement, mentoring, and life skills

  • Increase awareness around safety, preparedness, and violence prevention

  • Foster stronger intergenerational connections and community support

Target 3: Health Awareness & Well-Being 

Improve the overall health and well-being of communities by increasing education, access, prevention, advocacy, and culturally responsive wellness initiatives for all ages.

  • Address health disparities impacting underserved communities

  • Promote preventive screenings and healthy lifestyle choices

  • Expand mental health awareness and emotional wellness support

  • Increase awareness around women’s, men’s, and youth health concerns

  • Encourage holistic wellness, self-care, and community healing

Target 4: Economic Growth & Success 

Empower individuals, families, and communities to build sustainable wealth, financial stability, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity through education, access, advocacy, and innovation.

  • Promote entrepreneurship and small business growth

  • Increase financial literacy and wealth-building knowledge

  • Support career advancement and workforce readiness

  • Encourage community investment and economic collaboration

  • Expand access to funding resources and business development tools

Target 5: Environmental & Sustainability Action 

Promote environmental responsibility, sustainability, and community stewardship through education, advocacy, conservation, and action-driven initiatives that protect future generations.

  • Encourage environmental awareness and sustainable living practices

  • Reduce waste and promote recycling and conservation efforts

  • Support urban gardening, food sustainability, and green spaces

  • Educate communities on environmental justice issues

  • Advocate for policies and partnerships that improve environmental outcomes

Target 6: Arts Advocacy & Cultural Awareness 

Celebrate, preserve, and elevate arts, culture, and creative expression as powerful tools for education, empowerment, economic opportunity, and community connection.

  • Expand access to arts education and creative experiences

  • Highlight African American culture, heritage, and contributions

  • Support emerging artists and cultural entrepreneurs

  • Foster intergenerational cultural appreciation and storytelling

  • Use the arts as a catalyst for healing, unity, and transformation

Target 7: The Global Community 

Strengthen global awareness, service, collaboration, and cultural understanding by connecting communities across nations through impactful outreach and international engagement.

  • Expand global partnerships and collaborative service opportunities

  • Promote cultural exchange and international awareness

  • Support humanitarian initiatives impacting vulnerable populations

  • Highlight the sorority’s international footprint and impact

  • Foster global sisterhood through education and shared experiences

Target 8: Undergraduate Impact Program 

Empower undergraduate members to lead with confidence, purpose, and accountability by providing meaningful support, leadership development, advocacy, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

  • Address issues impacting collegiate women and campus communities

  • Promote leadership development and sorority engagement

  • Support emotional wellness and personal safety initiatives

  • Encourage civic engagement and advocacy awareness

  • Strengthen pathways from undergraduate to graduate membership engagement
